Edited by Edmund Gosse
Lot of six antique books with half crimson leather and gold colored lettering and marbled endpages. Part of the Crown Gems of France set ("Royal Edition"). Each volume feature literature of a different classic French author, with the stories translated into English. Illustrated.
Published in New York by The Werner Co., copyright 1902 by D. Appleton and Company. Believed FIRST EDITION of this compilation.
VERY RARE! This set was published with 15 volumes total in the set, but it is rare to find more than a few together.
The interiors are in very good condition with only minor flaws. The covers are worn, rubbed and frayed at edges and corners. There is some chipping on the spines. One volume is worse than the others. It is warped, has splitting along the edges of the spine, and a chunk of the leather spine was torn off and reglued. Stamped with previous owner's information. SOLD
